Hey Guys,
I need some buying advice. My 2000 Audi 1.8T is just about dead and i'm looking at buying a replacement. I have my heart set on a quickish wagon and have about $8K to spend.
For that money there are a few B6 FSI 2.0Ts that have done something in the low 100,000 km range. But what I really want is a 3.2 V6 (lets be honest, I want an R36 but that's way out of the question and too expensive to run). So my plan was to buy the 2.0T and do an APR stage one tune on it. I figured that would give me an extra 20 - 30 kw at the flywheel, which puts me close to the V6, and not break the bank.
However, over the last couple of days a 2007 3.2 FSI 4 motion wagon has come on the market for $7,500. If I'm honest the V6 is exactly the car I want - better engine, all wheel drive, better interior spec. However, the only problem is its done just under 200,000ks!!!
So, basically I'm scared of the KMs, and don't want to end up paying $2k for a DSG or whatever else goes bang in the next year. Here's what I know about the car:
- The car looks to be in good condition. Only a couple of minor scratches on the paintwork and the leather looks basically immaculate.
- He says he has full service history.
- Just spent $4k (!!!) on a major service.
- The guy has work stickers on the car, and it looks like he is a surveyor, so he has probably used it to go to jobs which i'm guessing means freeway kms.
- Completely unmodified.
What do you guys think? I'm tempted because I cant get a low km V6 in my budget. Am I asking for trouble buying a VW that's essentially done 200,000kms? Have you guys had any high KM B6 passats?
Thanks in advance!
