    Got T boned Sunday

Got T boned Sunday at an intersection by a person that failed to stop at a stop sign. He hit me right at the drivers door. Police said he was chatting away and never saw the stop sign or the flashing warning lights. Even before the intersection there is very large signs and even painted on the road is a big red section with a stop warning. He was driving a jag and it appeared to be worst off than my car. Stupid me, I didn't take any pictures of his car.

All side airbags went off. I was actually quite surprise how well the car took the hit.

So now I'm possibly on the hunt for a new car. Unfortunately there is not many 4wd Passats in NZ

Ouch! Glad that you're ok though. That's interesting that there aren't many of the 4motion Passats over there (admittedly getting into cliche territory, is that a north island/south island thing perhaps? Or just a VW NZ thing?). Good luck with the search...

Massive damage, airbags deployed, seat belt pre-tensioned & door still opens. Everyone walks away = Awesome result.

I hope it's not a write off. Looking at current B7 Passats, there is only three 4motion ones and twoof them are with high k's in the 180k area. However, one of them has done only 68k where mine has done 72k but is a v6 whic would be nice but petrol is very expensive over here. But none of them has a reversing camera and xenon lights. Some have stop start but not the tpms or have dcc. None have all of it like mine. Whoever initially brought these cars obviously didn't tick half the options.
The first thing I did to this car was install a vw reversing camera and new radio and a dash cam. I just installed shift paddles. So if it does get written off hopefully the insurance company will allow me to swap out the new steering wheel with my old on and remove my front splitter.
