Excessive oil level drop

My 2011 passat petrol car has been losing oil with no leak or fog from the exhaust. Is it because I changed the oil to be Penrite HPR 5 Engine Oil - 5W-40 ?

I doubt thats your issue (these engines - especially the 2.0L turbo engine are renown for burning oil).

Also the Penrite HPR5 oil is not the correct oil for modern VW engines, the one you need is Penrite Enviro+ which comes in 5w-30 and 5w-40 and has the correct specs for modern VW engines. The Enviro + oil is also more expensive at around $90 for 5L.
