Electric Tailgate Retrofit - R36 MY10 Wagon

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been done to death, but I can't find a concise answer using Google, and searching a number of VW forums.

Specifically, I'm looking for a list of parts, suppliers , VCDS setup and for a stretch, a rough how to guide - to retrofit the electric tailgate opening (and closing) system in an MY10 R36 Wagon.

i'm looking for OE equivalence, not some aftermarket hold your left leg in the air while leaning on the passenger mirror and push the remote buttons in this sequence type of kit.

It is for a car that does not have it fitted - just has the standard gas struts.


From all accounts/research it seems to be a bit of a mystery for the B6 variant (I'm an R36 noob - is B6 even correct??) - which I cant understand, because these vehicle systems are built from OEM modules (parts, wiring looms and programming). :-|

Anyhow - if I can enlist your extremely knowledgeable help , I would appreciate any insight you guys have, and if I can afford it i'll happily document the steps and process.

Im really interested in this myself for my B7 wagon... Im even happy to just have the boot open on the push of the boot button on the remote and then close it manually..

Ive searched online a bit and never found anything.. Will keep an eye on this thread..
