Electric Park Brake controller replacement

Hi All,

I've replaced the failing park brake control module with a new revision 3AA907801E module.
I've coded the module correctly and it is functioning (park brake is correctly engaging and disengaging with the button or automatically as expected).

However I've also upset the associated systems (as expected) and not sure how to correct them...
I understand I need to correct the ABS module fault codes to get to the next step. However when I go into the ABS module and try to select the basic settings, to for example try and do the G251 adaptation, the channel is reported as unavailable...

I'm able to start the car, disengage the park brake and drive but I have ESP and ABS disabled currently.
Any suggestions appreciated.

There's no Basic Setting/Adaptation for them in the electric power steering module?

I'd be inclined to take it for a short drive.

Find somewhere quiet, turn the car off, restart, accelerate to above 20km/h, stop in a straight line, then accelerate to +20kmh again and turn the steering wheel full lock each way then stop in a staight line with the wheel centred.

It may be enough to clear most of the faults, and narrow it down to just a few.

I went into the steering assist module to try and calibrate the G85 steering angle sensor, but VCDS reports that the channel group (60) is not available...?

Will have to try to see if the car will calibrate itself using the 'drive it around for a while' method (coupled with your much more scientific one above)

Ok that worked, was able to correctly perform basic adaptation on the G85 steering angle sensor.
Now to do the same for the sensors in the ABS module:

This is why I mentioned ages ago to avoid replacing the module unless you absolutely have to

It was hard enough to do with VAS-PC, even with online coding and step-by-step testplans. I don't wish it upon anyone, so all the best with it.

Its a bit of a mission getting to the control module too, have to pull the whole centre console out (well lift it up anyway) but nothing too crazy.
I needed to replace it, don't want to get stranded with the park brake stuck on, and switch replacement hadn't resolved the issue.

The only thing I was missing was that I needed to put in the security code before trying to access basic settings. VCDS should give a more meaningful error (ie check security code or something) rather than 'channel group not available'

All good now, was able to run the basic settings tests on the ABS module and EPB controller, now all faults are cleared and car is happy again
The trick was just putting in the security code before trying to access basic settings in the ABS module...
