I removed the motor plug and powered it up to get it back into position. This should solve my issues.
If anyone else is doing this you need genuine or high tensile bolts.
Hi everyone, has anyone got experience with these tailgate motors? The bolt in the hinge has broken that holds the actuator arm to the boot hinge. I’ve removed the hinge and drilled out the broken bolt but I’m struggling to get the actuator arm back to the open position so I can refit the bolt. It’s the right side which I’ve read is the slave to the left motor. I’ve played with the switches to get it back in sink with the left but that’s not working. I’ve also tried to force it like when someone accidentally closes the tailgate manually. Any ideas? Can I remove the plug and just power up the motor?
Thanks!

I got the genuine replacement bolts today (part number n91145401). The original bolts were 8.8 and the replacements were 10.9 so they’ve obviously had issues with them breaking. If you’ve got an electric tailgate with original bolts I’d replace them as it’s an easy job to do before they break and fairly difficult if they do break!
I've broken one also. VW claim its as rare as hens teeth. Never bought it, but for them to remove the bolt they source external help.
