Tossing up between early model B6 Passats and MK5 Jettas (2006) for my next shopping cart/commuter.
Are there issues I should be looking out for with the B6's specifically? Should I be scared off by high mileage examples?
Morning, I have a 2007 TDI sedan that I have had for nearly 7 years, 110,000 km's, love the car, the only problems it has given me is the injectors, fixed under warranty, replaced the injectors and wiring loom, second, the hand brake switch stop working, car had to be towed to VW's to be replaced, I now could do it myself if I had to.
You need to make sure that all of the computer upgrades have been done and the only sure way to check is to have the car plugged in and scanned. I have been told not to buy a 2006 model, they seem to be the ones with the most problems. I am also told that the DSG gearboxes can give trouble, mine so far has been great. Mine has the 103 kw motor, had it tuned, APR exhaust and cold air filter, now makes around 130 kw, great car and love the mileage. I have it service by a mobile vw chap and very happy with his work, hate to say it, but no longer take it to VW dealer.
Make sure it has full service history and get it checked first, as with most VW's, can be costly to fix.
