In the past 2 weeks the warning light on my 2011 Passat TDI has gone on and then off for a while and then on again. According to the manual it's a warning light for a fault in the catalytic converter (yellow engine outline - not blinking). However I've have read that it could be and engine management fault.
What's the real story and can I manage this myself? Is it serious or just that a bit of extra unburnt fuel is escaping down the exhaust?
Cheers

Thanks Lucas. Will get it checked by a mate who has a scanner. The light has gone off now .... but I guess the fault will still be logged in the system.
