B7 Passat Wagon Rear Bumper Protector Options?

    Hey guys

I bought a cheap protector from aliexpress, i failed to notice in the description it was for a sedan (i searched b7 passat wagon bumper protector and it popped up...) and wont fit a wagon plus its too small to be totally effective IMO.

There is a stainless/plastic oem item that is $180-200 or thereabouts (found it in an alltrack parts catalogue)

    Discussion here:

Load Sill Protection - B7 Wagon

In teh above thread there was an owner who bought a true stainless steel trim from the UK

Rear bumper protector (Perfect Shape) VW Passat B7 , only for Estate

They look a tad blingy to me, but may consider one...

I'm thinking a just a matte plastic item may be more resilient to scuffs scratches in the ensuing years after installation but the shipping is killer!

Load Sill Protection - B7 Wagon

So those who have the oem VW item is wear OK, do you recommend it?

Would anyone else who owns a B7 wagon be keen on the plastic item to purchase one to share the shipping costs if we bundle a few together?

I ended up buying this S/S option:

Volkswagen Passat B7 Variant 2011 Chrome Bumper Sill Protector Trim Cover Trim | eBay

It was $100 cheaper than a genuine VW plstic S/S lookalike option

    Are you happy with it?

I did my own with 3M protective film and you cant even see it Goes right down to the chrome strip so the whole bumper is protected Has lasted 3 years so far with only one mark on it. I am however verycareful not to drag anything on bumper and dont let others put stuff in the boot. Cost me about $80 to both cars door sills and rear bumpers

Sorry Fail I only order it last week it hasn't arrived yet (got an email from the Polish seller last night stating it had been sent)

Unfortunately the previous owner had scratched and scuffed the rear bar getting a pram out so the clear film would be of no use to me (VW actually offer a clear film as an oem acessory option) so I figured rather than paying for a respray I would cover it up with a rear bumper protector as my wife will scuff it all up again getting the pram in and out of the car in the next few years im sure...

Haha your scenario is identical to mine so I think I shall order one as well.

Same issue he lads, the ladies love to bang the gear around! Mine had a head start from the Lycra wearing previous owner.. Also caught the roof with the wheel bolts... What was he thinking - use the racks!!
I better order one of these, hey drjekl, could you please upload your pics & experience with install on receipt?
    Cheers
