    Hi

Of all the upgrades that I've done to my car, this is one I enjoy the most. The clarity and overall sound quality is sensational. I'm retro fitting the same system and I've just got the new BT 9W7 module to install and then the Dynaudio amp which arrives next week!

Then I noticed the TV tuner can also be installed, but at $900.00 I'm not sure its worth it.

Yesterday I bought the new RNS510 R unit as mine was one of the first unit made - its a 2009 model. So that'll make a difference too.

So, even with the standard 250w amp that I'm using now, its still a fantastic sounding system. You won't win any "doofdoofdoof" loudness competition, its not that sort of kit, Dynaudio systems are more about clarity, low distortion and quality sound, and this they do very well!

And BTW, you got your kit at an excellent price!

And lastly, would you be able to pas on to me the part number/s for your rear tweeters? I have a set, but they don't fit... mine are incorporated in the handle like your are, but I don't have the part numbers to order a new set.

    Thanks, and enjoy!

It sounds great. Very clear highs/mids and the bass is tighter and more exact - the 1.5m2 of Dynamat Extreme and 2x DynaXorb deflectors I used would also be adding to that.

The amp made a big difference, though the standard speakers had trouble handling all the extra power. The Dynaudio speakers provide better sound, though it's more of an incremental improvement - not proportional to $$ spent. Personally, I would still upgrade both amp and speakers if I were to start again.

The 250W system was still really good and all the speakers turned out to be Blaupunkt (quite respectable). I think the old system had a little more 'doof', but that is probably because the bass is less controlled (more muddy). I plan to add a sub to add some extra 'doof' anyway - thinking of a (removable) custom fibreglass box that fills the spare wheel and spills out into the extra volume opposite the tire removal tookit. Then then have a 10" or 12" mounted within the enclosure under a false floor, covered in OEM carpet =)

    Sure, the rear dynaudio tweeters are: 3C0 035 411 E (81180) - 4Ω

I replaced the entire rear handle assembly as the tweeters are melted in - and are larger than the Blaupunkt equivalents (part# 3C0 035 411 A):

Do you know how to remove the rear interior handles? The door handles are a bit of a pain to pop out (requires some co-ordination) - I can provide details/photos on how to remove them if you like? Just make sure to do it on a soft surface (carpet, cardboard, your legs).. don't do what I did with the first one and scratch some of the leather on the concrete/pavers (at least it was minor and I should be able to restore it).

... more photos and details to come.

Yeah, it'd be good to catch up sometime to do a side-by-side comparison (use same track, tone settings etc).

BTW - does anyone have access to VCDS in Brisbane? The next step is to code the RNS-510 to use the Dynaudio setting.
Not sure if I'm going to replace the speaker grills. They are available online from China, but are melted into the door panels and will require some surgery to replace =S

Does one have to remove the passengers seat to fit the amp?

Is there much real estate under there? Do you reckon I'd be able to fit the TV tuner under there as well?

I've seen the Dynaudio stickers/labels on eBay somewhere I think... bugger changing the grills!

The amp install was the easiest part and only took ~15 mins (I'm not that mechanical either).

I didn't have to remove the seat. Just slide it all the way back and up (lift the front of the bottom cushion - ie. tilt it back).

Remove the radio fuse - it was f19 on my R36 (back-right corner of the engine bay)

    B6 R36 Passat - Dynaudio Retrofit-20140503_102701-jpg

Then you remove the amp cover and unscrew the two bolts. Each have a 10mm socket and Torx screw option - my T30 bit seemed loose, so used the socket. There are only two bolts at the front, I originally thought there were four (two front + two back) based on the amp.

You can then slide the amp out and with a little gentle manipulation access the plugs. There are clips on the top and bottom of each plug that need to be lifted while gently levering the plug out - a little fiddly, but possible.

Once you remove the amp, there will probably be a bunch of fossilized french fries, dust kitties and hopefully money under there. I was lucky and found a dollar to go towards the subwoofer fund =) ..

The Dynaudio plugs are facing the opposite direction. Turn the amp upside down, plug it in, gently turn it back over (be very careful while twisting the wiring around) and manipulate it into place. Slide it back in, do up the bolts and replace the plastic cover.

Finally, replace the fuse and turn on your head unit to ensure it all works ok and you get sound. Just be careful not to turn it up past ~60% or you may eject the Blaupunkt cones out of their baskets - my bass starting making 'blarp!' noises at that volume.

TV Tuner? Sounds interesting =) .. another mod for the TODO list.

There should be enough room behind the amp, but you may need to remove the seat for that one. Try sliding it all the way forward/up and see what the access is like.

I was a bit disappointed when the grills in the b7 didn't have dynaudio like some previous generation cars. I want this but don't want to bother doing the whole plastic melt thing. i will be taking door cards off soonish for door warning light mod.

Really, the B7 doesn't have the grills? interesting..

What is the warning light mod and how does it work? (I just can't help myself, must be made to haqq with things).

TV Tuner? Where can I get one and how much?

Sounds really great! (excuse the pun!!)
How long did it take to find the bits. I cant imagine wrecks come up too often?
I found some parts stores online that have all the bits but the "H" version amp is the most recent one available.
Your amp was a "K" out of an Aussie car wasn't it?

Let me know if you haven't found anyone with a Vag-Com setup up there. I have the cable (when find it!) but i'm in Sydney.
