In theory you could retrofit the cc seats, I have a feeling the controller is the same (when I pulled my seat out the controller had a heap of unused plugs at the front) coding should be a doddle. Just compare an autoscan from a CC with vented seats with an r36

For sure it would be easier to install the ventilated seats from the cc over perforating the r36 covers and installing a fan ect. However the r36 seats are nice and hug you a fair bit more, defiantly prefer them in the r36 when going for a spin with some corners.

Could provide a autoscan for ventilated seats for anyone keen to give it a go Anyone sold an R36 recently?

Just put mine on the market.

i have seen some sit for months and months on carsales both private and dealers.

even the blue wagons that everyone wants seem to sit for while.

they are a great price when you compare them to what else you can get on the market between the $16 and $20k mark.

im not sure why everyone is so hung up on maintenance prices!!! you should buy a quality car that will last, not a cheap one just cus it cheap to repair, when it does (and will) break down.

i buy and sell cars under the 3k mark all the time, most with >300km and around 20 - 30 years old, what people dont realise that if the car has lasted this long its a survivor and its obviously not a lemon.

I think these cars are hitting the "third owner twilight zone." They're now getting cheap enough that they are in reach of potential owners who can't really afford to own them, which leads to shortcuts being taken and surprises down the road for future owners. Also potential owners are spooked by luxury European marque reliability and more specifically VW issues, such as DSG woes and VR6 timing chain rattles.

We're all scared of the "big one" happening - the $5K plus repair that may or may not be around the corner!

I take a philosophical view. These cars were well built with options often not available in similar specified competitors of their day. They are still a lot of car for the money, quite unique really. But they do need to be serviced properly. They are an enthusiasts car that will always have value to people like us "in the know" and are worth spending money on - at least in my opinion...

Yeah, there's no way I'd let mine go for that kind of price/time-frame - I'd prefer to hang on to it (it's more valuable to me, just not 'new' anymore).
Also don't like the idea of having people wanting to take it out on test drives, doing the price dance etc.

... I think I'll hold off a while longer and see what options come around in the next 12-18 months. Will be keen to see what a Tesla Model 3 Ludicrous has to offer when available (apparently 0-100kph in under 4 secs is the rumor!).

I ended up having to trade mine when I moved on - there were no bites on Carsales.

I miss it - wish I could have kept it

I have a mate in the market for an R36 wagon. He wants an optioned MY10.5 with lowish kms. I think he is prepared to wait for the right car to come along....

I checked out a blue 08 wagon with 132k on it advertised at $19,900 from a dealer in Homebush and was stoked with how well it drove. It had been on Carsales and gumtree and others for months and I couldn't believe it was still there. Drove well and looked ok....UNTIL I looked for the so called receipts for the advertised recent DSG replacement (none found) and that the last service in the book was 3 yrs ago and 60,000 clicks back. Also no evidence of recent service etc.

Then I got in the cabin and thought "better check the passenger electric seat" - nothing. Dead. Asked if I could look in the fuse box and the dealer said OK. Looks like half the fuses were missing! Interior lights didn't work, half the seats didn't heat, the list went on.
I told the dealer and he looked blankly at me and said he would get it fixed. I told him I would think about it and ring him. 2 days later the ad was gone! Not sold, GONE.

    I think I dodged a bullet there.

    Chris
