Sounds like a dsg clutch pack issue.

so...
this car is turning out to be more problematic than i hoped...
one of the things that annoy me is that when i'm moving off from the lights, doesn't matter if i feather it like i'm very gently trying to not squish some silky tofu under my foot, or drive it like a normal person would, it seems to jerk when moving off.
it's not ALWAYS the case, but like a 50/50 chance.
i'm hoping someone has come across this before and might know the answer
right now, i'm thinking that the transmission mounts/bushings are not so far the end of life. which got me asking how much they'd set me back to get them replaced. come out to a little over AUD$1.3K
but i'm keen to hear what other owners have come across before i go ahead and do it.
what bushings/mounts i get is another discussion, assuming that i have to do it, so let's not go down that path for now.
Sounds like a dsg clutch pack issue.

So I’m guessing this isn’t going to be a cheap fix?
Any guidance on what it might costs?
How many KM's on your car?
Keep in mind that this is one of the earlier DSG's. They were a very new concept at the time.
I'm only guessing here but clutch pack would probably be a few thousand, mechatronics unit would be $5-7k.
You mind find that the behaviour improves with a relearn, or if you try using the Auto Hold.
It’s just under 240k. I’m the “no idea how many”th owner. So...
How do I get it to relearn?
Mechatronics is $2700ex from VW.
Clutch basket complete is $900ex.
Mechatronics can be replaced in situ. Clutches is gearbox out and requires a careful measurement procedure to ensure the correct clearancing shim is used.
Add new filter and fluid plus labor costs.
After clutch or mechatronics replacement basic settings needs to be performed in it's entirety to adapt the new parts:

i've got the car booked in to get the AC compressor replaced next week. if i can't get that working, i won't bother with anything else.
if that works, then i'll do the mechatronics box n clutch n transmission mounts.
