For sale is my alpine white 1994 Golf VR6 manual. There is an ebay auction running (Volkswagen Golf VR6 1994 5D Hatchback Manual 2 8L Engine Damaged in VIC | eBay)because I have no idea of the value of the car. Since I have to put a price here I'll say $2000 but it'd be better to bid on ebay or make an offer to me directly via PM. The car runs but has engine damage which I will detail below, and has many good and bad points. The car currently has a flat battery. I am going overseas and need to get rid of it otherwise I would spend the money and get it running again. The first four pictures are from some time ago, and the rest of the pictures are as the car is today.
At it's peak when it was running properly this car was way more fun than any other car I can think of in it's price range. It had a high flow cat and magnaflow catback exhaust (not selling with car) which meant the sound was absolutely amazing and probably the best sounding six cylinder engine. It needs some work but even once that is paid for, it would be a great car and might still be less in total than buying a good running one. It just needs someone with the vision to deal with the engine issues and other niggling problems. In return you'll get a great car, I can't describe how fun this thing is to drive and the noise it makes when it's up and running. I'm starting it at 99c because I have no idea what it's worth, don't miss the opportunity to own one of these cars. They rarely come up for sale and a lot of them have stupid mods now.
I have tried to be as descriptive and honest as possible in describing the car. It needs some engine repair work done and a few other things to make it a good car again. The car currently has a magnaflow exhaust system on it but this will not be sold with the car, instead I will provide the stock exhaust system but it will not be installed. The stock exhaust system isn't in great condition but it may do the job. The car is located in West Footscray, come and check it out.
The bad:
-Engine is damaged and doesn't run properly because the timing chain has jumped and resulted in damage to the valves. The battery is now flat but the car was running and driveable when the battery was last charged, but there is not enough compression. In order to get the car running you will need to get the head and valve repaired, I have been quoted between $2500-$3000 for this.
-No heat, the heater matrix is broken and bypassed.
-Air con has been disconnected and degassed but was running fine before that.
-Needs new front tyres.
-Temperature gauge doesn't work.
-Radiator fans only had one speed (high) when the car last ran.
-Steering wheel needs to be retrimmed, the leather is all torn.
The good:
-Body is in very good shape for the car's age, no accidents while I've had it and I've been led to believe no accidents since new.
-Windscreen is near new, only has a few hundred k's on it.
-Transmission was replaced around 5 years ago with one that has done around 100 000km less than the car.
-All electric windows were working when I last drove the car, it's a common fault that these constantly break.
-Adjustable coilover suspension installed.
-Billet 'crack pipe' installed in cooling system.
-Radiator only has a few thousand k's on it.
-K & N air filter
-Tons of other parts replaced not long ago with new or used, including starter motor, water pump and other cooling system parts.
-I will provide a folder with pretty much every receipt since I bought the car.
