    MK1 worth having

Posting this for another forum member. It's not my car but one I went to see today.

4 door MK1 with a 2 litre, 5 speed, period wheels and almost no rust.

How's this for an interior. Even has the old style hard plastic dash in great condition.

The only rust I could see was under the left taillight and it's only on the surface. There's a couple of minor paint bubbles on the tailgate but again, surface rust only.

Brakes are standard MK1 so they're going to need upgrading but the shocks are purple so probably an upgrade.

It needs a lot of tidying up but compared to some of the crap I've seen for sale on Gumtree this is one worth getting.

It's running but never been registered with the 2 litre which shouldn't be a problem if you upgrade to GTI brakes. The GTI had 112hp, the 2.0 has 120hp which is within the limit allowed before you need engineering approval.

Car is located in Canberra. $3800

    Cheers

    Paul

This still available? How much effort for a roadworthy do you reckon?

Would this be able to start and drive after a good service and brake upgrade?
