Nooooooooooooooo, you've done so much to get this car to where you want it and now you have to sell.
Can't you find somewhere to store it and buy a pushbike?
Due to unfortunate circumstances, I have no where to house the golf and will be selling the mk1 to get back on a bike.
Model: '76 LS Mk1
Price: Owes me $7k, would take $6.5k with road worthy or $5.5k as is (not representative of costs to road worthy, just an indication that I need to move it on and would take the loss in order to solve my dilemma).
Odo: Current JH motor has ~170,000k, spare motor is a low K PB with all new seals/gaskets.
Location: Kensington, Melbourne
Mods:
JOM Coilovers,
front lower strut brace,
1.8 8v JH motor converted to Weber 32/36 DGEV carb (Professionally tuned and custom linkages made/installed),
Mk2 gti brakes (front only)
adjustable + weighted shift linkages,
wolfsburg steering wheel + golfball gearknob,
Autostrada Pirelli Cinturato 15x7 wheels,
Seats rehupolstered with leather (drivers not done but have inserts ready to go),
$1500 audio setup (all pioneer except amp),
Full exhaust + extractors,
BMW radiator (Never overheated, even in peak traffic at 40 degrees outside),
brand new OEM fuel pump and fuel filter,
hoses are all in great condition,
90a alternator to run the bigger battery + audio setup.
A tub of spare parts including timing cover, 2 stock carbs, 1 spare 32/36, headlights, taillights, trim and more.
It has not broken down since the first week I bought it (previous owner left a spark plug loose, which threw out the timing and gave me dramas). I would be confident to daily this car as I've driven it 250k's straight without overheating, stutter, or hestitation. Always starts first time.
I DO NOT want to sell this car, it's just ****ty circumstances. As to the 'why', I will be living somewhere without parking and would need to go back to riding a motorbike... so if you've got something with two wheels that's road worthy, let's talk. Otherise the price is as advertised or best offer.

Well I own a pushbike :p and I could store it at my uncles place but I need something with petroleum fueled propulsion haha.
I rode motorbikes for 5 years and in Melbourne I can park on any footpath, which makes the next 4 years of my PhD pretty darn convenient to commute to.
I have spent a lot of time and cash/effort putting it back together and getting everything smooth and solid for daily use. I even have the spare motor to resolve the burning oil issue... and the time/space to do it! But, with my relationship falling apart, I won't have anywhere to park a car and can't justify holding on to it for that long while it just gets dusty. Someone should be enjoying it.
I've had a fair bit of interest, which is fantastic, but most people want full reg with road worthy, so I might have to go sort that out this week.
Booo keep the car been passed around too many times
