Hi All,
I have just put a deposit down on 2000 Audi S3 8L and plan to pick it up tomorrow, so the VR6 must move on to its next owner.
This car is in simply beautiful condition and you would be hard pressed to find a better maintained or optioned VR6 in the country. It has been tastefully modded, and is still in a fantastic OEM style, but ready for major mods if thats your thing. Important stuff:
Year: 1997 Stamp, 1996 Build
Kilometers: 168000 as of 22/10/2014 (Low for its age!)
Colour: Black Magic (Metallic Black)
Power: 128kw/ 235nm
Engine Number: AAA231701
VIN: WVWZZZ1HZVW387568 (Check your PPSR, All clear)
Rego: Feb 2015
2 x Original Keys, the keyhole light still works on the main one
All manuals and books apart from service log unfortunately
Options:
- Black Leather Interior (No tears at all, one of the better stock mk3 interiors I have seen bar the usual steering wheel and gearknob damage. repaired driver bolster internally so shouldn't tear any time soon)
- Sunroof
- Volkswagen Mk3 golf footmats
- Dash protector
- Metallic Paint
- Remote Central Locking
Aftermarket mods include:
- CX Racing Coilovers - I have found they ride better than the Stock Suspension and make the car handle significantly better
- BFI Stealthline Engine mounts - no extra engine vibration, actuall better than stock if anything. Far more responsive and less engine rock though.
- Genie Extractors
- Suitcase exhaust delete - definitely not a droning exhaust though, throaty when you put your foot down but not loud driving around town
- Chipped ECU
- Fusion slimline sub installed in boot (very neat, doesn't take up any extra space)
- Fat mat sound deadening installed in all doors
- Vw Mudflaps
- New Sparkplugs and Leads (iridium/ red leads or whatever they are)
- Leather Doorcards
Please note, for the moment, the car will not come with the roof racks, fairing, foglights or 16 inch Montreal wheels. It will come with the stock BBS 15 inch rims which have 50% + tread left on the Bridgestone Potenzas/ Kumho KU31s and foglight dummys. We can do a deal though if you want those things as well.
All the Big Ticket VR6 faults have been attended to in this car, so you can be sure you won't be spending more than your purchase price after you get it home:
- TIMING CHAINS - 135000 ks
- New LUK Clutch kit, input shaft seal on gearbox, Clutch Fork and rear main seal - 162000ks
- Heater Core - 155000ks
I made absolutely sure EVERYTHING works on this car, and it truely does (Yep, even the cruise works, and all the windows!). For a 1997 vehicle, it is amazingly advanced in terms of the electronics and trip computer, but it is important that they all work, and in this car they do. I can't possibly list all the things I have done because it fills up half a notebook I have compiled but some things include:
- New water pump and Auxiliaries belt @ 161000ks
- New Custom Hoodlining installation
- Complete overhaul of front end suspension including ball joints, ALL bushings, tie rod arms and ends
- Aircon system overhaul
- ABS unit replaced (receipt for $1.5k job)
- New sound system including Kenwood Bluetooth headunit, Kenwood splits front and rear and fusion sub
- New O2 sensor and coolant sensors
- Complete overhaul of cooling system including new crack pipe, thermostat and sensor housings, expansion tank and oil cooler coolant feed hoses
- Repaired oil leak from oil filter housing
- New Auxiliary water pump
- LED interior lights and parkers
- New Shifter Mechanism Bushings
- New Steering knuckle boot
- New ignition switch
- Rebuilt rear brake calipers
- New RPM sensor
And there is still more... I have a notebook full of all the work I have done to this car. It has been a hobby so I just went about doing EVERYTHING I could get my hands on. And I think it shows in the fact that it has been a reliable car that has got me up and down the coast numerous times and taken me to uni and everywhere without hesitation.
If I had to pick an issues with it:
- Brakes could do with some better pads (not due, just fade very quickly)
- Rear right door is slightly dented and not in the best condition IF you look closely.
Put simply, it has been a fantastic car and has shown me that with regular/ preventative maintenance, the VR6s do live up to their Golf reputation as a reliable little hatchback, that goes like stink!
I have a full notebook and file of receipts to go with it, and it will come with a box of mk3 parts.
It also comes with a towbar but I can remove this if the new owner wishes, you wouldn't notice the cut I made in the bumper as it is on the underside.
Asking $6500 ONO without the wheels, roof gear or foglights (but as I said, willing to chat about including these). I think this is fair considering the amount of work that has gone into it, but I am seriously not willing to do the calcs on how much I have spent on it!! Low ball me, come have a drive, I don't care. Worst I can do is say no, or I'll counter offer!
Cheers,
Max
