    Whoa!
    Someone's on the rag.

The lifetime warranty doesn't cover things like stone chips or anything else that this is meant to protect.
This has been coveredmany a time and everyone is of the opinion that it is a useless expense.

    +100.

Seriously, that is just ridiculous the stuff they quote people. Why do you think they offer free tinting with it?

But in saying that, I got smashed itoi buying the stuff when I bought my MY03 WRX. I found out later from a friend who is a panel beater.. That it is indeed a crock of ****.

With that plastic covering you get on your car, such as 3M etc.. a couple of things i want to mention.

    a) Save the $1000 and use it on your insurance excess when you get some "actual" damage.

    b) Why keep the car immaculate for some guy who is going to get it for half price anyway.

    c) It not a Ferrari 288 2.9ltr twin turbo Collectors edition. Its a (very nice!) Golf.

    d) If you get a ding in the car.. and you get the dent guy to pop it out.. will the plastic stay stretched?

    e) That is everything I think.

Maybe just wax your car and look after it, and if the unfortunate happens - pay your premiums and get a proper repair!!

All just my opinion ofcourse.. And to those who have it more power to you. But its just not worth it to me for what you get < the coin ($1K++ --> up to $4/5K)

Whoa dude.. too much!! Geez - calm down a bit.

Anyway - As Corey said, Scotch guard does work.

And as for XPACK I dont know too much about, but I had ming done to my old rexy, and it was garbage. I had one mad bird **** mark that made a nice ring on my bonnet where the paint had dissolved.

And I got a free bottle of the magic potion too.

Obviously you know someone who sells the stuff or something.. Thats why the hostility, but either way "most" stuff, and Im sure XPACK iprotection is no different, is utter garbage.

seems like everyone gets this spiel. it was just getting discussed in a nother thread where i brought up the same thing. the product i got told was called 'Crystal Glaze' paint protection and was rrp @ $895. although the sales girl, without me saying anything, said ill look after you and do it for $500.

it is something i will be looking to do, but after the discussion in the GTI pricing thread I think ill find someone else to do it for me with a combo of Ventureshield + paint protection.

i made the mistake of getting those when i bought my car.... the x-pack shampoo and cleaners .. were crap i tried using them once and throw them all away..they were leaking and made a mess in my boot ...

they tell you bs like you won't ever have to wax your car again.. @@

I also had the interior protection.. it ain't too bad but i reckon you should just get some nanolex sealant..

save the money and spend it on something else seriously..

    window tinting is around $250

I have been checking out this "XPACK" and it seems to have been around for a little while. There are references to it on other forums (including detailing forums).

Really, REXman, how can you say that this miraculous product is utter garbage when it can actually "clean itself"
Here is an extract from their product brochure:

But the truly remarkable thing about X-PACK HiGloss is its self-cleaning property which breaks down dirt and grime entirely of its own accord. It is composed of UV light sensitive titanium dioxide TiO2. When struck by light photons, it reacts with air and water to oxidise organic compounds, turning them into carbon dioxide, hydrogen and other bi-products that escape into the air. TiO2 is present in nano particles suspended in a cured, inorganic clear coating.

Permanent oxidising generator that only needs oxygen, UV light and water to work.

How can you not be amazed at the technology available to us ordinary punters these days
    Why a Golf R?
For the days when you just can't be bothered getting the Veyron out of the garage.

Pretty fancy lingo for a 2 part sealant you could do yourself for $50 (or less) and an hour or two of your time.

Doesn't the fine print tell you that you have to maintain it (ie, get it redone) annually anyway for the lifetime coverage or whatever the hell it is? I'm sure that comes cheap...

RExman just a minute I'm just going outside to talk to the inch of tar build-up on my rear hatch and up the doors of my Golf R and inform it that they should be breaking down.

Seriously I tried this one with my new R and I have already gone through 2 bottles of bug and tar remover because the **** that is supplied would have difficulty dissolving dust let alone tar.
