[QUOTE=blake_jl;731583] VW clear measures 7.[QUOTE]
Where your claim is coming from? Did you measure it?
Actually, the scratch test doesn't exactly work like that. VW clear measures about 7. Obviously a blade will scratch it.
The reason I used VW clear as an example is because it is relevant to this forum and doesn't carry the "snake oil" merchant claims you are alluding to. VW clear measures 7. Fact. Yet your 5.1 pocket knife will scratch it. Why?

It is good you are happy with your paint protection and I hope your excitement will last. You may change your mind when they start to charge you for “a repair” on the top of $35 car wash every 12 month. I personally do not call 12 months a lifetime. Please let me know how it will perform against the bird droppings and bat droppings specially, I am still looking for this ‘Holy Grail’ of paint protection.
It's common knowledge in the industry that ceramic clear measures approx. 7.
To put it another way for you. How do they cut diamonds? Why does my wife's diamond ring scratch? Diamonds are the hardest material known to man.
Actually Hail22 - the annual service is being removed under the new terms and conditions. You don't need to submit your car for an inspection, although a yearly detail by a professional is always a good thing.
Bird droppings don't effect the product and that is also covered under the terms and conditions. The material is totally resistant to these chemicals.
Regarding bats, it is actually not the bat droppings that are the issue so you are a bit off the mark here. For your reference bats actually vomit up the substance that does damage. It doesn't come from their arse at all
No it isn't covered at this point in time as it is untested.
For those that don't know me from previous conversations I represent the distributor of this product.
As per my FYI about Merrick, I thought I should point out that blake_jl is from Zen Automotive Suppliers who are the Australian (arm? distributor?) of Optimum who make Opti-coat.
Again, I'm not saying his comments are valid one way or another, it's just so forum members know the background of where comments are coming from.
I have had the worse bird poop of all i believe Crow droppings two weeks ago, i can verify with the application of a polish/rejuvinator i managed to clearly eliminate the tainted evil this bird creates when landing its bombs.
Microweave + very liberal application returned the surface exactly how it was after the work was completed. I would love to take some photos to prove a point but my car is currently in the workshop getting work done underneath
My advice i found the car came out like a gem after the work was done by placing it under the garage not using the vehicle for 24 hours why do i say this? idk since i had this pattern of thought you just need to see it looks way better than pre-delivery quality.
If it passes a year and its still the same i will be sold completely.
plus my car was under 12 months old thus i got the lifetime cover which literally means for the life of the vehicle, i have the signed contract with the full T&C's on the reverse side it does exempt like blake said untested chemicals, but a part from that it states the quality of the product is covered for the life of the vehicle the only thing that voids it is if i was a moron and decided to cut back the car myself or did a bodge DIY job on the car.
