If you're a Ming Mole saving for next cup increase.

now its not there to stop stone chips or scratches (nothing will do that)
A good sealant can help with scratches and paint protection film (PPF) will stop most stone chips and scratches.

but it does stop fadding or oxidisation!(red cars fade the fastest because they cant be colourfast)
You mean like a good sealant does?

also the fabric protction stops bacteria and stains for all you clumbsy bastards out there!
How does it protect against bacteria? I realise that as a Ming Mole you need to protect against bacteria and other stains on your upholstery but ScotchGuard will protect your seats, carpets and even ceilings against all sorts of stains for a fraction of the price (2-4 cans @ $15ea)

So next time you jump to conclusions about something you should do some propper research befor relying on ill informed and quick to judge people!
The proper research has been done, Ming Moles peddle massively overpriced rubbish and the X-pack is a POS.

I had a previous vehicle that had a "ming" factory applied. Before you acclaim I'm a 'Ming Mole" - it was thrown in free by the dealership (ha! yes, I probably paid too much for my first car). I don't know how they did 'vehicle' inspections - but the visual inspection never picked up on the fact that the car had been resprayed at some point after a panel repair... hence no more Ming.

The Ming did not last. I eventually applied a layer of polymer sealant over it and could visibly tell when it was no longer beading and crap was harder to wipe off after 18+ months. I ended up repeating the polymer sealant by hand at 6 month intervals. I had better results doing that... I'm a firm believer in Nanolex at the moment from reviews and experience with both their interior and exterior sealant. Although I use their domestic premium (and not the professional) product - the latter I think requires very quick buff off, lasts longer but also recommends inhalation protection. I think nano technology products may contain silicates which are definitely not good for the lungs! But it lasts longer and has great results.

I wouldn't pay for the x-pack. You're better off paying $200-300 for a set of nanolex (or other) interior sealant, some 303 vinyl protectant (I use Zaino Z10), paint sealant, some microfibre towels and application pads and do it yourself. With the loose change from not buying the x-pack, you could even purchase a festool random orbital and detail your friend's car!

Wow this thread gave me a few good chuckles.

Bought a new GTi today and had the sales pitch thrown at me.

"Oh wow that all sounds really good - but can I purchase this later?"

"Oh no its only available when the car is new".

"You're telling me that if I come back a week later and pay the full price you won't X-pack my car?"

"Sorry we can only offer before the car is delivered - that way you get a lifetime guarantee..."

    ....

I work in an office and I may know very little about oxidation, treatments and car protective sealants... but when the economical basis of a business is unsound once removed from a time-offer situation -I call bull$#!+

To test this claim do a test and try to scratch the treated paint with your pocket knife (a pocketknife 5.1; a knife blade, 5.5; on Mohs scale), you should not see any scratches if the claim is correct. Please let us know what happend after this test.
The technology today is very advanced and I do believe many chemical companies can make very hard coatings. But there is a problem. Usually if something is hard is also brittle. For this reason chemical companies have to make a compromise between hard and flexible coatings.

What is a lifetime warranty exactly? I am just guessing that is a limited lifetime warranty with many strings attached isn't it?

I will point out, for those that don't know, that Merrick is the owner of a competing detailing business, not an X-Pack or an Optimum dealer.

I'm not saying his comments are valid one way or another, just I feel that information needs to be know. Cheers.

Actually i have the agreement, its for the life of the vehicle and will remain for the life of the car if the car is inspected once a year its guaranteed against possible faults, failure of the product due to breach from tar, bird droppings, tree sap.

So that would suggest optimum back their product. ($35 wash to which a 1 hour inspection is carried out).

Merrick, i'm an owner of a vehicle who had the work carried out on not a rep, sales person or detailer.

I'm not going to play stupid and put a knife to my car Do you tell possible clients to put a knife to their car to prove something? i most certainly wouldn't think like that, maybe request if i can ask optimum to prove the results? sheesh

Then again why should I a consumer go out of my way to annoy the detailers to prove that? I have had times when debris or even natural enviromental nuisances try to effect my car. So far very happy 3 months on! mind you i dont even wax my car, i only wash with my snow foam yummmm

Now optimum claim 9h not myself, Sorry for possibly misleading you there

If im happy thats what matters i am merely passing information to others who can read up on it and research more if they want, but as a person who has purchased this method of protection I for one am a happy client
