Windscreen for my Polo, O"brian F**KED up! NOT HAPPY!

I had an issue with my rear windscreen when it was replaced by Windscreens OBrien..... first installed the wrong screen (WRX STi) as it did not have the radio aerial in the screen plus it blew fuses every time I tried to use the rear demister. To add insult to injury they smeared black silicone on the blue inserts on my rear seat......

The end result was 2 days of my time a $1600 genuine subaru rear screen (as the cheap crap one they installed was just that) $580 worth of rear seat trimming and twice the amount of work to replace the screen.

All this from a screen replacer with 20 years experiance, I would have opted for the apprentice if it meant that he was going to take more care and pride in his work.

This is correct, mainly due to the safety implications of what happens in a crash.

Dude, WATCH EVERYTHING!!!!!

They should have gloves on through the whole process, if they don't, stop them from fitting the screen! Urethane, although volatile in it's own right, needs an activator to properley adhere to automotive paint, it sticks, but it's full cohesive strength isn't achieved. If they don't wear gloves, when they pick up the screen with bare hands, the oils and contaminants on your hands nulify the activator. If you're involved in an accident where the airbags need to deploy, they use the windscreen to deflect to airbag towards you. If the activator is contaminated, the airbags can blow out the windscreen, rendering the airbags useless and you, or the next person who owns your car, with their face married with the remanants of the steering column.

Trust me, I have done several months of glue to auto paint testing!

Also, it shouldn't be a urethane based glue, it should be an MMA adhesive, nobody uses urethane anymore as it's not the best product for the application.

Now I definitely know not to use Obrians, I'll be getting a screen done in the new year in the mk4.
