the window TINT thread your % and what you reccomend

hey guys, just after some feedback/ discussions on tints you guys have done to your cars, also prices and quality would also be good to hear....

i want something around the 20-30% range, don't want to go any lower than 20% as anything starting with "1X" could be a huge problem driving at night....

SO! lets see some feedback of anyone who's had tint on there cars, how much you paid, what percentage and if your happy with it, what problems occur that you may not have realized "untill", im sure other people along in time will benefit from this thread also

    cheers
    dom

On the GTI I went with the tintacar midnight express. Still legal and easy to see out of it but its pretty hard to see into. Wasnt cheap though at around $350 or something?

My VR6 has a generic max legal tint which doesnt look as dark from the outside but is actually harder to see out of at night. Only cost $250 for that though

I Got 35% Tint from Solartint.

Illegal, unless it has been on there for years, which it has as the car is an old import

Cost me $300 with lifetime warranty.

Went tint a car great job except the rear which is notoriously **** to do on a polo.

have 20% which rounds down to like 17% with the tint in the glass, can't see through my car unless you are looking through one window onto the front windscreen and then it's only silhouettes , can't see **** at night unless it's well lit.

Mines the same midnight express as Tim's i think proper black colour not blue or purple.

Dude I think the Passsat needs to be in mirrored tint which is now legal... well ford are doing to from the showroom at least so thats enough of an excuse.

get the gradiated front visor bit done too.

I went with Tint-a-Car Dandenong good chap re-did the back till I was happy cost me $325.

must be a NSW thing 35% is darkest legal for passenger and drivers side in vic, 75% for the windscreen but no one will touch your windscreen, and you can pretty much black out the rest of the windows without issue.

Mine are 16%, and I'm very used to the driving vision at night. The only problems I ever get are when I am parking with little street lighting...even then I just use my wing mirrors with the windows down.

It's too dark to see into at night, and at daytime you get feint sillhouettes. Oh, and it only cost me $200 cos I did it with a few other people

Got DTI 20% all round in the Caddy. It's illegal in the front i think. Verging on being too dark at night if you aren't careful, But FANTASTIC in the sun. Stops me getting burned.

Have tintacar midnight express all round. Got raped at $395. Had a number of issues with it which coursed various other problems (window seals being replaced ) but is all ok now except for the back window has a hair under the tint haha.

on sedans i would suggest getting darker on the back window, it lets soooo much light in compared to wagons and hatches with "vertical" windows. As for night i have no problems with it.

My mate had midnight express on the passenger/drivers windows, 10% on the rear doors, and 5% on the back on his calais (so all legal) and it looks awesome, makes the fronts look darker, but they are all still easy to see out at night as far as i can tell
