    Vogue Car Care

Hi Experts. I may be buying a new Polo and the dealer has offer to take some of my money and clean and treat the care with 'Vogue' car care. Does anyone have any experience with these products. Nano this and that and apparently good protection from the elements. I'm a bit interested because the car will be coming to the quiet coastal village of Gladstone where there may be some 'elements' in the atmosphere as well as lots of sunshine all year round.
    Let me know your thoughts.

Probably rubbish - most dealer stuff is. Even if it is good stuff, the price they charge is astronomical and you can easily put high quality products, supplied by car care products, for a fraction of the cost yourself, and at least you know exactly what you are getting.

Check out some of the other threads and carcareproducts.com.au.

i'd personally avoid dealer cleaning/ "detailing" pre delivery. i know on the next car i buy, im going to ask for it not to be detailed - delivery costs are high enough as is, and i dont want some apprentice sanding my car with a $2 sponge that has washed 200 cars earlier that week, been dropped on the ground, etc etc...

even if they just present the car as cleaned, in your shoes, i'd read through some of these threads on here and then make up your mind as to what your requirements are vs. how much time and money you're willing to spend, and go from there... buying online will be the most inexpensive way to take care for your car, from companies like:

    -waxit.com.au
    -carcareproducts.com.au
    -chemguys.com.au

    etc.

You can easily get paint protection anywhere these days. Most tend to last 2 years with a maximum of 3 if your lucky at the best.

You can purchse nanolex online and apply yourself which will give 12 months protection from one application from a true nanotechnology sealant.

Alternatively you can go polymer, a traditional carnauba wax and so forth as well. It depends on how much love you want to give the car and how often!

As mentioned, dealers tend to charge quite a bit as aftermarket is where the money is made!

Neil, what scotty has said is right on the money. When I picked up my new polo, unbenowance to me in the dealership (due to the positioning of their lights) there were hefty scratches on the driver's door. When I saw them the following day, I rang the dealer right away. Upon agreeance that it would be proffesionally detailed and said scratches / swirls removed, I picked the car back up again, only to find even more swirling and scratching. At the same time, a brand new Highline Amarok was due to be picked up, black. It was so scratched it made my eyes water!

If I was you mate, i would be trying to get your money back and make sure your car isn't washed by the dealership. then, get a good deteailer to do the first detail and protection steps for your car. Not only do they know what they are doing, but they take care doing it.

    +1

njg02, the good thing about a lot of PROPER detailing places is that they've established their services with perfection in mind. a lot of the "hardcore" detailing places, quite frankly, would take huge pride in their finished product, and care more about getting the job done properly for personal/professional pride, than simple getting a job out of the way and getting the customer to pay so they could move on to the next car.

Thanks Guys. I'll try and get the delivery charge back and spend it on the car after it's trucked half way up the east coast.
Anyone recommend a good detailer in Rockhampton or Gladstone?

yeah, sorry man - for $2k you could get some SERIOUS high end boutique detailer to put the good stuff on - like nanolex professional, or optimum opticoat (both of which are meant to protect your car for something like 2 years)...

tell her it's off? i mean, if you dont mind doing a little bit of work yourself, and dont mind being a little sore in exchange for a nice, clean car, then you only need to spend a couple of hundred bucks to get great DIY (even for beginners) stuff like nanolex, optiseal, reload etc as well as good wash shampoo, clay bar kit, trim protector etc...

i'd really be interested to know exactly what they do at the dealership for $2500... i bet it's an interior and exterior detail (with some ishtty old sponge), tyres and trim blackened, wheels brush-cleaned, and "buff waxed" with something average, so it'll at least bead water for a few weeks.
