The 3 litre came out here in late 1988 — a completely new car (here, at least,) model run 1988-1992, discontinued to boost Lexus sales. Prior model was a gussied up Corona II.
Mine was one of the first sold — still the best car I ever had (out of about 70-odd passenger and commercial) and occasionally I still miss it.
Went to the local dealer's for parts for a job — saw the new Cressida, took it for a burn up the freeway, come back and wrote a cheque on the spot. Never regretted it.
Traded for a Mk6 TDI in 2009, now driving Mk7 ditto, neither really measures up to the Cressida (passengers agree.)
Well, I'm getting over it a little but now kind of nervous every time I wash my car. I guess I can always paint it later down the track when it gets worse, in a few years.
As long as it is the bonnet, then if it came to that, I suppose a high quality vinyl wrap would be the way to go.
