If wax is taking you ages to buff on and buff off then you're probably doing it wrong..!
Small amount goes a long way. And just because it wears off doesn't mean it is crap. Wax has always been a sacrificial product.

Most boutique waxes, naviwax, swissvax, dodo juice, autobrite, zymol etc all last approx 2-3 months on a daily driver under aussie conditions.
BUT, always remember as Tom said.. a little goes a long way, and of course preparation of the surface will depict how long your wax lasts of course.
Hoodie covered it very well, regardless what product you use make sure you decontaminate your surface before applying. Or option b get someone else to do it for you lol
What’s behind you doesn’t matter..
A wax with a high carnuaba content will be lucky to last 2-4 weeks man. Are you a detailer, fuzion?

If you worked in conjunction with big name companies like Swissvax & Dodo Juice everyday like Fuzion then i think you'd know what your talking about too.

White Scirocco R
White MK3 Golf 2dr
White Caddy (Work Van)
so the answer is yes i should definatly wax my car?
Definately wax your car at least. having worked at car dealerships as a detailer the way cars are prepared for sale on the whole is disgusting.one of the reasons i started working for myself instead of dealerships was the poor treatment brand new cars received. if it was me i would clay it then try some Menzerna 2500,followed by Menzerna 4000 and finish with a wax or paint sealant of your choice.if after the 2500 it still had scratches go to the Menzerna 500 and then back to the 2500 and so on. the effort most dealerships i saw put in to detailing was pathetic,so work on your car as if you are starting with nothing because you are. as mentioned earlier repaints can need a curing period before polishing/waxing depending on paint but your new car has usually been painted months before you get it so nothing to worry about.
cheers
