Repairing damaged leather on steering wheel

    Hi all,

I somehow got a slight tear in the leather on my steering wheel, and as a result a small piece of the leather has come out of the wheel, leaving a "hole" about 1mm deep, 1-3mm wide (it widens towards one end), and about 6-7mm long.

It's quite minor, but being anal-retentive as I am, I'd like to repair it somehow. Is there something I can use to fill the gap that will take black polish so the wheel is smooth and the tear invisible (bonus points for something that doesn't set too hard or soft, so it feels like the leather as I move my hand over it).

    Thanks!
    Nothing to see here...

Circa $200 (less I think) to have it recovered in Alcantara. Leather I suspect is cheaper again. Only place I know in Sydney is Dept. Of The Car Interior, on the highway in Carlton, but any auto uphosterer could do the job.

Not sure of any repair options.

Yeah, I think if you try to repair it, in time (probably sooner than later) it'll just keep tearing. There was a VR6-er on here that contacted Isotta to have them custom-make a leather steering wrap. I don't remember who (think it was Simon aka Pullstarter), but it looks tons better than your regular SuperCheap item.

Yeah that was Simon. It looked sick too! But for the sake of the tiny scratch you have I'd say a full retrim isn't worth it unfortunately..good luck though dude!
