    Repair or replace???

Hey guys, Ive got rust bubbling along the drivers door window sill. It is slowly growing and I want it gone. I have a spare door and am trying to decide wether to colour match the spare door (which is rust free of course), or to cut out the rust and weld an equivalent section cut from the new door. My mechanic reckons that doing the whole door will be really hard to colour match and will be especially noticeable around the door jams. He thinks that just replacing a section (3-4cm wide and the length of the sill) and then blending the paint will look better.

What do you guys think???? I'm guessing that my mechanics recommended method would be much more expensive hence my apprehension.

    Hey mate,

Rust on a car is like cancer. It just eats away the car itself no matter how much you isolate it or cut it out. Ive had this experience.

My advice would be to completely replace the door. There are heaps of spray painters that would be able to match the colour as close as possible. Im guessing your guy may be trying to juice you for more money

I'd hate to see a good door cut up to fix and rusty door. If you had two rusty doors that could be cut up to make one... well maybe.

    Swap the doors over.
