    No dealer offered paint protection will last more then 12 months in normal driving conditions, if it did than it would be an OEM option along the same lines as the metallic paint mark ups.
    The discussion has been about aftermarket paint protections so I'm not sure in what context to read your comment. Myself and others do agree dealer offered paint protection isn't much chop.

    Ahh now I'm on the same page. Think I have become lazy and rely too heavily on 'replies with quotes' to keep me on the same page as everyone else. The 1k price tag confused me. What the!! is that what they can charge upto these days?

    Sorry Rob did not know the page changed over to follow, yeah like Corey said it was a reply to Vdubber's question.
    If you are lucky you can get the "deal" for under $700 but can go as far as $1000 for the "magic" dealer paint protection.

    Flipper Dog, sometimes things have to hit me in the face for me see it. Wife often asks if I have had a 'man look' or a proper look when I can't find things. LOL
    I'm surprised dealers allow these offers to be put to customers. Essentially for something that is temporary, it is a very expensive extra to pay for at delivery!!!

    LOL @ man look, you could also add (generically speaking) that a man's look at his paintwork will definitely notice a properly detailed ride compared to a woman's look - my wife, "oh that looks nice dear..."

    LOL!! Yeh I can't find the sugar in the pantry (Woopee doo!) but I always find a new swirl mark or scratch on our cars. Especially my wifes car!! I did a quick detail of her car but didn't have time to give it 100%. Wasn't happy with my effort and told her so. Her response was very much like........ "oh that nice dear don't worry about it. Grrrrrrr.

    You can source Paint Protection from a number of places around Australia now.

    However you must take into account what truly would last and what is worth the cost/vs service and warranties of course as well. If you want to be extra cautious check the History on the Product and Reviews. Some companies are very new and have all types of claims that your vehicle will be protected for X years or some claim for the entire life of the vehicle almost with very little proof other than types of marketing.

    Sealants;

    Carnauba Wax (Reapplied every 2-5 Months for Daily Driver vehicles, dependent on Brand of Wax and Quality of course).
    Polymer Sealant (Almost classified as a 'semi wax', longevity would be approximately 6-12 months.
    Genuine Nanotechnology [Nano] (12-24 Months).

    You are able to apply any of these sealants very easily by yourself, at home in your garage and have the same results for a fraction of the cost.

    Regarding a "Full Detail" prior as mentioned several times in posts is always highly recommended by any good detailer pre-applying a sealant to your vehicle so you receive the full benefit, longevity, durability and looks from the product that is being applied to your vehicle. You can do this detail with a bit of guide quite easily with Buffing Machines or out source it from your local detailer in your city.

    Dealership Packs do usually offer a lengthy time of warranty and guarantee but the fine print states for most you will require to use their guidelines and products to maintain your vehicle with quarterly, half yearly or yearly inspection to make sure you are complying with their warranty guides so you do not void them.

    Choose carefully and spend carefully. Every dealer in every City for each brand of car do tend sometimes to use different sealants as well. Some good, some bad, some below average.

    I believe that if a highly regarded and reputable detailer endorses and uses a product then this can say alot also. If they were to be found out to be full of it then it can damage their reputation and business. The key is to find out which detailers are reputable which can be a difficult task.
