Hey all.
I got a new engine delivered for the mk1. Now the thing is, I want to paint it with wrinkle paint (the block and head) and then get all of the ancillaries and the cam cover chromed.
Now the thing is, the car is your average 32yr old Mk1 with oil and grease stains everywhere.
What I would love to know (and have already searched for to no end) is how to easily and cheaply (ie: without having to buy $1000000 worth of cleaning products and tools) clean up my engine bay and then, strip the old engine of paint and get it ready for new paint.
Tips? Help?
Thanks all

I use $2 aerosol degreaser let it soak in for a bit then wash it off with boiling water and truckwash in a kero gun.
5 cans of degreaser $10
5L of truckwash $15 (will last you for years)
kero gun $15 (but you need a compressor to run it)
Truckwash fresh smell ---Priceless!

I bought 2 of the cheap 'export quality' degreaser yesterday, truckwash I have not heard of though.. kero gun? again have not heard of this.
I got a half beer keg sort of alluminium barrel made up with no holes. will this be good to clean in?
what about for paint stripping?
