    Paint Protection in Perth

What are opinions on getting this done professionally? Obviously doing it yourself would be far cheaper but I don't have the confidence or expertise to do it well.

I came across Glosstech who offer the full range of Gtechniq products.

Does anyone have experience or alternatives?

It all sounds good but the cost would sure add up!

A possible alternative to Gtechniq is Opticoat.

Send Shakespeare a PM, he had his 'R' done here in Perth using Opticoat and i believe he is very happy with the results.

I ended up doing my own using Nanolex, it wasn't overly difficult but the whole process of paint preperation etc was pretty time consuming.

Thanks for the info. Good to have options.

I got the quote back from Glosstech today and they offer considerable discounts for a full new car package & it works out even better if I do tinting at the same time.

Very tempting. Think I may go through with this option.

I'll definitely update in here once I have results.

    Hi payno,

    I got my R "Opti-coated" by Mark from Freedom car care - mark@freedomcarcare.com.au 0413 711 611

He did a great job on the prep and application, very happy with the results when it was first done and 6 months later!
    Cheers

Hey Shakespeare, what's it costing you and what are you getting done?
I work in a really dusty environment and want to be able to clean my GTI easily, and also protect it against the dust

Hey mate, I had the Optimum Opti-Coat protection product applied by Mark from Freedom Car Care, cost me $600 for two coats. I had this applied over 6 months ago and all I do to keep it looking as good as the first day is use the Optimum car wash when I wash it and apply the Optimum detail every 3rd wash. I believe I may need to get a top up coat applied every 12 months, but it certainly makes it easier to wash and for a semi-lazy bugger like myself, I don't need to spend hours waxing and doing all that other detail stuff

I buy my products here (see link below) Joel from ZAS offers great service and advice!

Nope, that's not necessary. There are several confused people on these forums, but the "yearly maintenance" if you've taken up the optional warranty is simply to inspect the surface, and perform a detailing (clay, paint clean etc). During this maintenance, if they find that you haven't taken care of the car and contaminents have errorded the clear coat, or you've stratched it to crap, then they can machine the Opti-coat off (machine polish), and reapply a new layer. You need to pay for the time (labour), but not the product used.

If you've been taking care of the car, then there is no need for any machining and reapplication.

Thanks Corey, I wasn't sure of what had to be done at the 12 month inspection

Thanx mate...will look them up right now!!!
$600 is nothing... if it keeps the paint protected from the crap at work, its worth it!!!
Plus the bonus of it being easier to clean
