    Thanks for the info all.

I've decided I'm going to give the Gtechniq coating a go. Luc @ Glosstech seems like a nice genuine guy.
FYI it's costing $750 for a package including C1 Crystal Lacquer Coating, Fabric Coating, Alloy Wheel Coating & Glass Coating.

Getting it done on Thursday/Friday. Will report back with results / photos.

    @payno

If you don't intend to go back to them for reapplications, ask them to use new bottles of the Fabric Coating (G|Techniq I1), Alloy Wheel Coating (G|Techniq C5) and Glass Coating (G|Tecniq G1 or G3... the G1 lasts longer but the G3 is better for "city driving" i.e. works at lower speeds) so that they can give you what is left from each of them.... which should be heaps.

This way you can reapply the I1, C5 and G1/G3 as required. I1 lasts up to 3 years, C5 up to 1 year, G3 up to 5 months, G1 up to 2 years. The C5 and G1/G3 applies using make-up removal pads and then buff off with microfibre cloth - pretty easy to do.

The C1 you're getting them to do on the paintwork can't be purchased by individuals, so you'll either need to go back to them or get some Nanolex and do it yourself.

    Thanks for the info Corey.

Do you know how long the C1 should last? I asked him and he said it didn't really need reapplication ever.

It's just a nano-sealant. I got mine applied on top of my Ventureshield by Surface Tech in Sydney. I think that they're possibly the Australian distributor for G|Techniq. Whilst G|Techniq claim it can last up to 5 years, they said that more realistically it's 2 years.

Personally, after 6 months, the photos of how the water beads for these Opti-coat guys is a lot better than how the water beads on my car. However, I'm not sure if that's due to the Ventureshield, or the fact I'm on recycled water, or the G|Techniq.

    Ceramic Polymer Nanotech coating.

Next generation nano-particled sealant containing a cross linked ceramic polymer-matrix formula.
Extremely resistant to minor scratching and marking like swirls & marring.

Has unmatched dirt repelling and anti-staining qualities .The Hyperseal multi-layered nano-ceramic coating is a highly durable and extremely long lasting surface coating, is highly effective against corrosive agents & minerals such as salt , acid , tree sap, insect splatter & bird droppings from burning through todays soft waterbased paints.

Hyperseal is a self cleaning permanent micro-coating, so no more polishing or waxing ever again, no need for re-applications or special car shampoos & detergents to maintain it , just a little water and a chamois which comes in the aftercare kit.
Premium Micro Nano coating for all surfaces, including all metals, plastics, glass, rubber, gelcoats.

Optimum Guaranteed performance to 7 years.
    Includes Aftercare kit.
They're asking for $650 + GST to apply that compared to $450 + GST to apply the g|Techniq, so it seems like an expensive product. But then it reads like the "next generation" of nano products.

Some detailers categorise protective coatings as follows:
    Wax
    Polymer Sealants
    Nano Sealants

But the reality is that "nano" is really just a "size measurement". There are many types of nano-coatings.

    g|Techniq is nano-Quartz
    Permanon is nano-Silicum
This new Matrix Micro-Coatings is a Ceramic polymer-matrix
Nanolex and Wolf's Chemicals don't really say what exactly they are... just "nano chemicals".

I guess there must be a reason behind the higher price.

Higher price doesn't always mean "a better product" though. It could mean it's more expensive to make. It could mean there is lower volume. Could mean it's "exclusive" in this country. I guess we'll just have to give it time and see what people who get it think of it...

I was getting my car sent to tintacar.com.au for window tint. Honestly, I have NEVER applied sunblock till I came over to Queensland. First time my weather app on iPhone told me the UV Level was EXTREME. Previously, I had only seen "Very High"

So I figured, they had a "Formula 1" package that did 65% heat/glare rejection, 99% UV protection and apparently had an SPF rating!! seemed quite a good deal.

Then they asked me if I wanted to add a Sirius 8.5 package

Get Sirius 8.5 applied to your vehicle and a window tint or with Electronic Rust
Sirius 8.5 – The Anatomy of Vehicle Paintwork Protection

Sirius 8.5 is the next generation of vehicle paintwork protection – a new surface coating technology developed to withstand our harsh conditions – protecting and preserving the appearance and saving customers valuable time and money by significantly reducing maintenance and time. The result is outstanding gloss and shine, exceptional protection from environmental pollutants and UV. Sirius 8.5 Paintwork Protection helps reduce the damage caused by:
    • Corrosion by chemicals with ph levels of up to pH12
    • UV Light
    • Salt and Seawater
    • Bacteria
    • Soiling
    • Extreme temperature fluctuations
    • Tree Sap
    • Bird poo
    • High temperatures (withstands up to 290c).

Sirius 8.5 is the latest technology in vehicle paintwork protection. This unique formula actually bonds permanently to the surface of the vehicle, providing exceptional protection from environmental pollutants, salt, soiling and UV. The treated surface becomes hydrophobic – this means the water will bead/ sheet off the vehicle, taking with it the dirt and grime. This offers you a permanent solution to your car care needs, will eliminate the need to wax and polish, and keeps your vehicle looking great – preserving the appearance therefore preserving the resale value.

What is Included in the Sirius 8.5 Package?

Also included in the package, is a customer complimentary Protection Pack. This includes:
    – Sirius 8.5 Carpet and Fabric Protector -
    – Sirius 8.5 Vinyl and Leather Protector
    – Alloy wheel protector
    – Surface Rejuvenator
    – Application pad
    – Microfiber cloth
    – Application and care instructions or we can install for an extra $100.00

    Electronic Rust Protection

Whether you live in the city or by the sea, rust will form and spread on your car. This causes serious problems for your vehicle and leads to deteriation of your investment. Our Electronic Rust Protection Module helps solve this problem. The electronic components of the Module emit signals that help corrosion prevention. The chemical-free design also makes it an ‘environmentally-friendly’ way to protect your vehicle!

    Environmentally Friendly, chemical free protection
4 Protects in areas other Rust Proofing applications can’t reach
4 Helps prevent scratch + stone chip corrosion from spreading
4 Efficient design utilising advanced electronic components
I have used paint protection in the past in my other cars (not in Australia) like Glare or DiamondBrite but a search for Sirius in this website turned out nothing related, I think.

I think the price including tint seemed OK. Has anyone gotten any experience with this Sirius product?

But the fact that they are touting this electronic Rust protection sounds like PUREBS to me, so that's why I am a bit skeptical about the paint sealant as well.

What would be better: apply Sirius protection package or DIY Nanolex sealant?
Or is it pretty much the same protection?
