To correct VAG paint you would definitely need a DA RO Polisher like the DAS6/DAS6 Pro ideally, otherwise there is not much you could do by hand that would remove the marring/swirls/etc from the paint.

Other option is you could use an AIO (All In One) that will hide/mask some of the marks of what it can but is short lived and needs to be reapplied monthly. This won't hide all the marks, just super fine ones and of course add some gloss/depth but isn't brilliant. Call it a glaze if you will, that is commonly used by dealers for example.

I have a 2007 Corida Red Octavia (same red as the Golf).

The level of correction & protection you'd require would depend on how bad the paint is now. To the best of my knowledge they are a solid paint with a clear coat.

If the paint is deteriorated badly then all you can do is try & disguise it.

My car looks factory fresh after 8 years of ownership. It came from the dealer looking fantastic so all I've done over the the years is wash it properly either 1 bucket (20 litres) or 2 bucket and a microfibre mit. And use a microfibre to dry it.

When i get enthused I claybar it. I've used polish/paint cleaner a couple of times. It gets decent wax or sealant every 9-12 months. I've used natties poorboys blue, chem guys sealant, chem guys carnuba wax.

CarCare products have some good lines that aren't expensive considering how long they last.

As a starter get either the $29 Mint clay bar kit or the Gyeon clay bar & lube for $39 or the Mothers kit.

Sealant or Wax is your choice - I'd start with Dodo Supernatural. If the clearcoat has lots of fine scratches & swirls & you can't be bothered buffing them out then use a polish - cleaner/wax. They are usually full of optical fillers that will mask some of the imperfections. You'll have to re-apply every few months.

The different VAG brands will use different names for the same colours.

You should put up pictures of the paintwork to help decide if you only need maintenance products or correction as well
