    NSW - repairing leather seats!

    NSW - repairing leather seats!-image-jpg

    Hi All,
I'm looking at buying a Passat R36 but it has a tear in the leather seat.

Anyone got recommendations on who to go to so I can have it fixed or to get a quote?

    Thanks
    Roland

The bolsters are generally man made leather, not real leather. The man made leather is much tougher and holds up better with scratching/rubbing etc, which is why it is used on the high wear areas.

Its also cheaper than real leather, which is why it is used on the back of the seats etc rather than real leather.

I know with my Golf R, you can distinctly see a difference in colour and texture in the seat from the real leather (middle of the seat) to the bolster areas.

In regards to the repair, i would have thought any decent automotive re-trimming shop would be able to replace the damaged section.
