I'd suggest you test for contaminants on the paint by putting your hand inside a thin plastic bag and running it over recently cleaned paint work. If it glides smoothly your good to go with waxing, if it catches then a clay treatment might be in order. Many new cars are delivered with (invisible) contaminants.
A large waffle weave special drying towel (or two) using the "pat dry" method seems to be popular these days.
I'd also invest in two new large wash buckets (if you don't know why, google "two bucket car wash"), and I recommend the "sheet of low pressure water" method for the final rinse, it makes drying so much easier.
