    Melbourne crash repairs - Carpenters

Just had my MkV GTI rear ended, usual story stopped at the lights car behind did not stop, swerved to miss and collected rear passenger side. No one hurt which is the main thing.
Towed to Carpenters Prestige in Heidelberg, Has anyone had any dealings with them and what sort of work do they do?
    Obligatory pics attached!

I realise it's probably too late but I've just read the thread. Don't go there. It's like a big sausage machine pumping out the finished article at the end. It used to be good before the current owners but has gone downhill.

I've had 2 work cars fixed there because of the government contract. The first was a side impact. The car (XR6 Turbo) had to go back several times. It was even inspected by Ford because they couldn't get it right. The paint was atrocious with dust in it and they only buffed half the car leaving marks. The swirl was one of the worst I've seen although it was a metallic black. They left a bracket underneath where they straightened it, the rear door wouldn't lock, door ajar light always on, warning bells saying the door was open when it wasn't. The wiring in the boot looked like a 2 year olds scribble drawing.

The second was an SS Commodore where it clipped a kerb and bent the front end. They didn't even replace the noisy wheel bearing.

Short story is I would NEVER go there for repairs if I had a choice.

If you're after a good job and it's not too late, go to Eltham Collision Care in Susan St, Eltham. Dominic is really good and does an excellent job.

    Good luck.

I'd also recommend LP Bodyworks in box hill. Fantastic repairs and service!

I will just say that I will never go back to Carpenters for any work. Pissed off with lack of communication and in my opinion poor workmanship.
PM me if you want details.
