    Matte/Flat/Satin clearcoat

    Guys,

Does anyone know an off-the-shelf product (preferably in a spray can) clear-coat that has a matte or satin finish? I know professional matte/satin paintjobs use a type of clearcoat with flattener agent added but I'm assuming this would be expensive unless I buy a lot of it, which I don't need. I've enquired at an auto paint shop before and the guy at the counter was quick to dismiss that idea. I suppose if anyone knows a paint shop/mixer that can do this for me, it'd be much appreciated if you could pass on the details!

    Thanks in advance.

I've found regular clearcoat by Septone, but never found a matte-finish clear from them Where did your mate buy it from?

matt clear in a spray can doesnt exist, because it has nothing to matt'en because it isnt mixed with anything, spray cans usually have matt or satin colors

also if you want acrylic paint tin in 2lt color with mattner will cost around the $180-200 mark

my matt mars red was $180 for 2lts

so yeah hope that helps mate

That's expensive. Then again, I don't know how much area 2L can cover.

I found a local (well, within driving distance) paint mixer, Concept Paints. A quick rundown of their products under Top Coat Clear came up with a 2-pack Satin Matt Clear. It only comes in 4L quantities though

You could always buy it and get it put into cans and sell it to fellow VWWA forum members

Your prep has to be 100% spot on for a satin clear as there is no polishing to fix defects
