    Interior Restoration help

Hey guys, iv recently bought an 01 bora v5, upon buying it noticed that the original leather has worn a bit over the last 10 years, i just went to an interior dude today to see what my options were, he suggested that there were 3 options, all being pretty different, first was painting the leather which didn't sit well with me at all, second was contacting some euro wreckers and seeing if i could buy a complete interior off of them and thirdly which is looking the most realistic is to get the seats and doors re-trimmed (not into the idea, but don't have much choice) anyway i'm hoping some of you have dealt with people in this department and maybe are able to shed like light on who's good to go to.

also perhaps going down the other path, who are some good euro wreckers to get in contact with?

    cheers

Loving the super quick response! the pics dont really pick up the flaws, the main problem is my seat (drivers) old owner claims that the discolouration was due to the seat warmers but the trimmer picked it up straight away and said it was due to getting into the car with wet boardies so the salt water has stained the leather.

apparently this has already been repaired and is a prior paint job :S

I know CCP are on to this but to me it looks like the leather needs a good clean and condition. The Duragloss Professional Leather System from CCP and some patience should do the trick.

i appreciate your help guys but i think iv managed to convince myself to swap out for r32 seats... seems like a easier and cheaper alternative, now its just a matter of sourcing some :S

    seeny,

those seats (Rear) are fine. front with the cracks/highly worn you would need to have it redone unfortunately.

the duragloss leather products are great, but nothing will rejuvenate the leather due to the cracking and large amount of wear you have due to neglect from previous order.

you can source them from the UK and also the US quite easily. but expect to pay :p

well hows this, found out that the the drivers seat where it looks heavily cracked is in fact a repair job where the previous owner has replaced the panel with either black vinyl or leather and then had it painted the colour of the trim. a trimmer told me as the stitch holes dont line up ... i didnt even think of ordering them abroad, i have just seen a few old ads here and there regarding r32 seats, any chance you could point me in the direction of ordering seats? just so i know what id be up against...

    cheers

ebay or just search vortex in the us, or ukmkiv forums for the uk.. its just chance.

maybe consider just some gti seats in black leather, or even get a quote maybe to get yours redone with more bolsters put in??

Replacing an entire interior can be costly. I encourage you to contact wreckers around the state and keep an eye out on forums/ ebay. I just replaced the entire interior in my Mkv GTI. It had the original tartin seats and i swapped them out for grey leather out of a later GTI (same as R32 seats just different logo on the head rests) that had been wrote off. I was looking for a while most quotes i got from wreckers was around the 2k mark. But there was always some uncertainty if everything was to be supplied (all door cards, center console, front & rear seats etc) luckily i ended up sourcing them from another member for a steal of price, they are now installed and look great. Just so you know that even second hand seats are going to have some signs of wear, it’s the nature of leather particularly in Australia to crease and wear out, having said that your leather is quite bad and I would be doing the same if I were you.
