How To: Removing VR6 plastic trim

    Hey guys,

After searching high and low for a guide on how to take off the plastic trims on my VR6 and not finding one, I thought I would create one myself. Hope this comes in handy for many others out there.

    VR6 Front Lip:

Starting from the middle you will find some push clips on the inside of your front bar. There is about ten per side, and all you need to do to remove them is push the clip down and then push out and it will release the front lip.

    VR6 Front Flares:

There are four pop rivets holding the flare to the car, and one plastic clip. You need to drill out the pop rivets to remove them. If you then slide the flare towards the front of the car it will come off the plastic clip easily.

The following shows where the pop rivets are located roughly, the one at the very bottom holds the cap that covers the front of the side skirts

    VR6 Side Skirts:

Start by removing the cap at the front of the side skirts by drilling out the pop rivet. You can then just pull the top piece of plastic away from the body of the car which should also bring the rear cap with it. To remove the lower part of the side skirts, you need to remove about 6 screws underneath and the plastic will then be able to be lifted off from the rail it sits in.

Some cars may still have some small undertray/splashguards at the front which actually screw onto the stock front lip. So they need to be unscrewed as well. They are long gone on most mk3s by now though!
