Nowadays you can buy a 1.5kW-2kW inverter reasonably cheap. So, I would go that path.

By the way I bought a cheap Gerni for $149 it is really good, only h/p hose is too short for my liking. Also thinking to remove it out of casing and fit it permanently in my van.

I'm so keen on buying that $149 Gerni, but I'm unsure if it's sufficient power to do what I want to do. I'm going to get the Autobrite Foam Lance, but is the power output have anything to do with making better foam? If the $149 Gerni isn't powerful enough I'm afraid the foam will be just too watered down and won't dwell long enough on the paint.

I went one of the cheap gerni's also, was like $130 on sale at bunnings or something. 5m hose is useless unless you like moving the unit around so I bought the 7m extension. Works great, probably not suitable to the small unit but only use it to wash the car and pressure is still more than enough for that purpose.

It came with a bottle/spray attachment which I semi dilute some Autobrite Wheel Gel in. Foams up enough to coat the wheels. I'm sure if I didn't pre dilute the gel in the bottle, it would foam up heaps but works good enough.

    Old thread revived again

So are the little Karcher's not worth considering? Masters are running them out for $59 Karcher Pressure Washer K2.080 - Masters Home Improvement

The equivalent Gerni is about double that at Bunnings

I really only want one to drive a foam lance as I'll do anything to make cleaning my car easier

It will probably do what you want, how cheap can they go?
It will wash cars no worries.

It's just the comments about the plastic pump (vs the alloy one in the Gernies) that makes me pause.

hehe wouldnt believe it but went and spent twice that on an aldi one this morning Doh ! oh well washed the car earlier seems to do the job. chances are it has a paper mache pump that disintegrates a day or tow after its 3 year warranty !

I've got an older model named "winner" which is a piece of rubbish but is still going after about 6 years. Stupid 2m hose and low pressure but very cheap.

If it's this one http://www.aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_26439.htm, then that doesn't look bad at all.

Well I wandered down to the new Masters store this afternoon and they had the Karcher K 2.080 further reduced by $10 as an opening special so I got mine for $49!!!

It has no adjustments and doesn't have enough pressure to strip the paint off my wheels but it'll do for washing the car.

Next to CCP for a snow foam lance
