hey all,
since i have owned my car there have been some decent swirls and what look like rain spots that just won't come off. these are only noticeable on the bonnet as it is black. i will have to take a photo and post up to give you all an idea but no matter what i do, i can't get rid of them.
on the weekend i started off buying Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish, some Meguiars applicator pads and a Meguiars Supreme Shine microfibre cloth. after following the steps and a seriously sore arm after a while, ALL WAS STILL THERE!
so i went out to buy the Auto Glym Paint Renovator which i have heard good reports about and was certain would do the trick. i got home and worked on half of the bonnet for a while applying and polishing, applying and polishing. after i was sweating like michael jackson at a wiggles concert, only half of the swirls had gone and the bloody spots were still there. i feel as though all the swirls are laughing at me
can anyone give me some good tips or do i need to get this professionally done?
Thanks as always guys,
Rhys

clay bar perhaps?
I'm sure our resident detailer will have some advice though.. *looks to DMS Dan*
None of those products you tried are abrasive. You will need an abrasive polish to remove those marks. To get the most out of it you should apply by machine. It would be eaiser to get it done professionally, but if you want to try by hand using over the shelf products try the meguairs mirror glaze range. These are abrasive so may help. TBH a professional buff will yeaild the best result. Contact chris at www.drivenbyshine.com.au or jayde at Dulvari Prestige. Both are mobile and do great work.
thanks for that Dan, i've never done a paint detail so i really had no idea what i was looking for. doesn't really matter about the money i have already spent, the products i bought can be used on the rest of the car.
i will have to look into the Mirror Glaze Range as you said. i have a mate who is quite good on the buffer and has done a few show cars, should i just get him to give it a go?
any certain application tips when using a buffer?
Thanks again,
Rhys

If its a rotary then thereis quite a technique you need so it dosnt end up covered in holograms or buffer trails. If your mate has the experience get him to do it. If its a random orbital then you just need to move slow, like 5mm per second andin overlapping motions.
