Question Golf Mark VI cloth upholstery protection

    Hello Everyone.

My car is 3.5 years old and the cloth upholstery (including door trims) is looking a bit faded.

Has anyone in/around Sydney had some sort of aftermarket cleaning/protection?

What did you get and done and where?

Were you satisfied with the result?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I searched on the site but could not find anything

Sounds like it needs a good shampoo. I'd be searching for reputable detailers around your area. I'd say prices would be around $200+ for a decent job.

Protection wise, you can just use some Scotchguard.

Unless they are heavily soiled with food stains or mud etc - then you could get away with a warm bucket of soapy water (use clothes washing liquid like Dynamo/Cold Power) and a terry towel or microfiber towel. Ring the cloth out so that about 80% of the water is run out but its still got a bit of water in it, then use this to rub over the fabric of the seats and door trims/roof lining etc.

This method works very well and will cost you basically nothing. Just make sure you use clothes washing liquid, not the powder stuff.

I've used this method many times and it works well.

I had leather in my Golf R, but ive now sold that car. I have the tartan cloth trim in my GTI, which i actually prefer over the leather, and the seats/door trims were quite grubby when i got it (purchased 2nd hand) and it now looks good as new after cleaning. You can also use this method for the carpets.
