seriously consider opti gloss coat
Hey everyone,
I recently bought a 2nd hand 2015 Polo GTI and i'm going to give her a nice coating. I've never done a glass or ceramic coating but i think it's time to move up from waxing and up to something more durable and long lasting.
Where my problem lies is in which one to get. To be frank, they all look like they are the exact same product(to the point where i wonder if they come out of the same factory), application is the same, finish is the same except the price is different.
The ones i am looking at are (in no order of preference):
- $100 - CarPro CQuartz UK Edition
- $220 - Kamikaze ISM Coat
- $90 - AMMO Reflex
- $200 - Gtechniq EXOv3
These 4 products seem to have the EXACT same application procedure, results and durability. If i'm wrong say so but i've watched many videos on all of them and i can't see a difference.
So i was hoping to find someone who has tried at least one or two of these to see if they did notice any difference to warrant the extra cost on some.
Cheers

Don't forget that you still have to maintain a coating, via application of a sacrificial layer. Coatings, waxes and sealants are all good for protecting paint, but they each offer a different look/finish/gloss level.
Out of those coatings, go with Kamikaze, no question. They are on the more expensive side of coatings, but definitely one of the better ones.
If you do choose to go with a coating, I'd recommend getting your paint corrected first. Putting a coating over a swirled finish is wasted money IMO. Coatings can be very difficult to remove, by ways of heavy compounding. I don't use them, nor push them. They are all a bit of a fad to me.

Absolutely spot on Craig.
The Myabi is another option from Kamikaze and combined with Overcoat as the sacrificial layer that Craig mentions, is killer look.
And yes, paint will need to be corrected and prepped before any coating goes on , otherwise you are effectively sealing in swirls and scratches
Cheers for the replies guys
Yeah the main reason why i'm going to go for a coating rather than just traditional wax is that i do around 1000km a week and the wax will need to be done almost once a month, so i just want the durability. Correction is the easy part for me, i have a DA polisher with plenty of Scholl polish and pads and the car only has 17,000 on it so theres only light swirls apart from 2 very minor scratches.
Yeah i've seen a car in person with it and it looks amazing but having never used it myself or any of the other competitors i don't know if its actually any different. I've not had an opportunity to see two side by side cars with differing products on similar paints so it makes it really hard. I'm a hard sell and not one to just assume the most expensive is the best because of that.
