    Front bumper paint coming off

My front bumper have got some rough treatment, and some paint is coming off due to it.

When I had it in for service last time I asked for a quote for a repaint, and they said $420. Am not sure if it's worth it at this time, as it's not really deformed, it's just the paint flaking off.

Is there any way to paint this myself without having it look like a botched job, or is the only option a complete repaint?

    Images attached.

Nah mate. It needs to be properly prepped to stop this happening again, a DIY will look average IMO

Bummer. Is $420 a reasonable price though? This was at Austral Newstead.

What sort of rough treatment leads to paint coming off like that (in those spots in particular)?
    Nothing to see here...

I hit a low block of concrete in our garage at low speed. The bumper just bounced back. I got the car used, and I suspect the bumper has been repainted once before, although the owner didn't say anything about that. The car is 3 years old.

Poor preparation is usually the thing that makes this happen

Have to agree there, could you perhaps just spray that underside section of the bumper? You might leave a thin line where the other layer of paint begins and its not too exposed. You should be able to get your bumper resprayed at a panel beater for around $300 ...

To stop it getting worse in the meantime run round the edge with some clear nail polish, that way the edge wont lift
