    Fixing dents on the roof.

Hey guys, more for my mate than me but I'd love to know if I'm the only one who thinks this is a joke.

A colleague's 5 month old 6R Polo TDI got 'ran over' i.e. not by a 4WD, but some drunk bogan over the weekend. Anyways he's going through insurance and having the entire bonnet and roof replaced by the 'preferred repairer'

Now I've been learning (and failing a little) PDR and it took me 2 minutes with only my hand and no leverage to push out the dent to about 30% of it's original size on the bonnet - definitely doesn't need an entire bonnet + fitting and respray.

And the roof - has 7-8 dents, all tennis ball size - so in terms of pushing out, very easy. Yet they want to order in an entire new roof, spray it, cut the old one out and reweld the new one in!

I'd love to take the excess money and do the whole thing myself, because removing and refitting the rooflining is the only time consuming part of the whole thing. But at the same time, I'm not 100% confident I personally could get the every dent fully out, but it still annoys me that a company would insist on doing it this way round

Also - replacing the roof - is that going to affect safety in the event of a roll?

    Opinions??

Look for Paintless dent removal guys in your area. My boss had a Mazda ute done with some impressive hail dents and he got them out and you couldnt tell they were there

Yeah, but this is through the insurance preferred repairer who won't do it as PDR - they'll do it the long, hard and expensive way...it's a joke.
