    Fitting Leather

I'm thinking about converting my cloth trim over to leather in a Polo GTI. I haven't managed to source anything yet, but I'm wondering what would need to be changed over? Is it just the seats? Or do front door trims change? Also the rear quarter trims with the arm rests as well?

    Thanks

You need to be aware of the side airbags in the seat as they will eitrher have to be deactivated or allowed to open.

I would also do the arm rests and maybe the door trims.

Sorry, I should have mentioned. I don't want to retrim my interior, but instead get a factory Polo GTI leather interior from a wrecker or something.

Ahh okay, well make sure if you get it installed that the airbags are in full working order.

My Polo GTI has been done and the side airbags have been retained... Getting it retrimed will be a cheaper and easier option than sourcing a full leather interior I imagine...

And yes, I would be doing the front and rear door trims too... Will look crappy otherwise!!

Follow up question. I've sourced a genuine GTI leather interior complete with front and rear seats, door trims and 1/4 trims. Now I've noticed that the front seats are heated, I know the controls are up near the hazards if I get those as well is it a plug and play to get the seat heaters working as well or will I need more items?

    Cheers

Answered my own question, but for other peoples future reference.

The wiring loom for the heated seats is not inc in a vehicle that was fitted for it from factory. Adding the loom means changing the full interior loom for the vehicle, not advisable unless you are super keen.

I'm not going to bother changing all the looms, too much effort to strip the car apart and don't want other things to go wrong down the track (faulty wiring, missing a plug, etc)

Ok. How much will tartan-leather cost?

I'd be pulling out the heater bits to save weight.
