Cheers mate, still a work in progress. What are your thoughts on powder coating or a hammer tone colour pressure pack spray job?

Was hoping to have these completed by the end of the weekend, but it seems every hardware store I go to is sold out of the wing nuts I need to complete this.
Anyway, reduced the length of the feet for the rack, the metal now measures 60mm from the bottom join. Pipe cutters make easy and clean work of cutting.

Gave it a paint job with an $8 tin of silver metal paint from Aldi's, thinking i should have found some rust paint now, but will see how it comes out, can always paint it again later (or let it rust :) ).
Next update should be the completed rack.
Happy to say these are now complete. Life has gotten in the way of finally getting these attached and tested.
Here are the attachment clips I made to hold the rack down, they are working well so far and proving very rigid. These consist of an old rod from a babys cot & the metal is from the top of an old server rack bent and massaged into shape, thread taped onto the rod, small tack weld to hold it to the base, quick coat of paint.

The real test (Surfboard fits perfectly, happy considering I didn't check any measurements there)

Apologies for the poor pictures below, taken on phone at work this morning after surviving their first trip

The colour is a bit of a fail, I used the aldi's 1 litre metal paint tins, it's sold as silver colour, but it's more of an undercoat grey. I might re-do the paint at some point if I get the time, but not for a while.
Cheers
Just one comment.
You should have tried to bend the bar for the hold down clamps so that the threaded portion did not end up on the bend. Basically, you have a stress raiser due to the sharp bottom of a thread. Rolled threads are one thing, tapped (or cut) threads are not that good as the bottom is much sharper and it has been cut.
Seeing as these for a very small part of the system, it might be an idea to re-make these parts :-D
