Dings on my quarter panel :(

Tonight I found a light ding on my front quarter panel. Was not happy. So, after inspecting it for a while, I thought... how can someone ding my car with what appears to be with their arm or something soft (since I couldn't find any scratches or other damages on the ding)... they must be stupid! So I did the most stupid thing ever... I lightly elbowed the car twice... and voila, two new light dings appeared. I was surprised the dings so are easily made in the first place The metal is surprisingly soft!

The car is a MKV GTI.

How much does it cost to take out a ding mark? I'm in Melbourne, if anyone has a good place they can recommend, I would greatly appreciated it.

Ha.....boy did i laugh when i read this.

I to found the same dint on my car and i wondered for weeks how the hell it got there.

Then i realised when i dropped the car off the hoist after installing my coilovers i pushed down on the guards to try compress the new suspension......DUMB i know but i have done it with a lot of my cars and never had this happen.

Problem is the metal is so thin that they are very easily dinted. if you lift the bonnet you can actually put your hand underneath where the dints are. I left mine in the sun one day and tried to massage it out a little once the metal was softer.

Worked a little but i am booking mine in top have them pulled out over summer.

I actually found a mob in the city and on their web site is a before and after pic of a VW jetta with a dint in the exact same position and afterwards was not visible at all. I'll try find the site again.

I don't remember posting this thread! Crazy! I was just surfing for fun... looking to see if anyone had done ding work on their car, and saw the thread title. Clicked on it, and it was my post! I must have been on a high that night when I wrote this thread.

Thanks for the link! Very helpful, I will have to get my car worked too. Yes the metal is very soft, I could unding a bit with my fingers after lifting up the bonnet to gain access to the dings! And my car was garaged too, wasn't out in the sun.
