'Detailing' the MK2

Thought I could make a bit of a thread up (working progress) to show results, and also help to reference in future detailing.

So the usual story, my MK2 was smothered in swirl marks (straight and circular), pretty badly on both the bonnet and roof (too scared to look anywhere else atm).

Decided to take action and got some stuff from CCP



DAS6 RO buffer kit with 2 pads and merzerna polish, Lime Prime with Dodo juice sample tub waxes and a drying cloth. Also bought some clay and microfibre cloths locally.

Tackled the bonnet first (after wash/clay), it had VERY stubbern light scratches EVERYWHERE.

Took me 3-4 hours with the higher cut polish, with the more aggressive pad before results started to appear. Anway went to a finer polish, followed by Lime Prime and 2 layers of Diamond White wax.

As it is now




Going to put on a final layer of Light Fantastic wax, doesn't look too bad, but (on an old car) light grey is a popo colour, it'll never have a mirror finish.
