    Dealing with mould

Just got back from a month's holiday and my Golf's interior has picked up a decent covering of mould in various places.

Can anyone recommend how to thoroughly clean it out ? The seats are fabric.

you have a leak... find that first!

Park the car in the sun with the windows cracked open 1cm.
Let the sun and heat kill off the mould and evaporate the moisture out of the car.
You goto get rid of the moisture otherwise the car will stay musty and mould will grow.

I had this on a car (driven once a month) that spent most of its time parked in the sun.

I noticed that condensation formed on the glass surfaces in the mornings. Ended up with spots of mould on door trims and seat belts. I wiped everything down with a vinegar solution, dried it in the sun, repeated several times before finally shampooing. I removed the door trims to make sure there were no spores behind them.

It took forever to get the odour (mould not vinegar) out. Mould is very persistent. Do not go scraping or vacuuming dry mould unless you want to spread the spores everywhere!

If anyone knows of a better way please chime in. I reckon a lot of people in the flood affected areas would appreciate it. I have seen some of the houses...

Baking soda is supposed to be good at killing off odours.
