They wouldn't have serviced it, no.

Mate, a squeaky door mechanism needs a bit of grease to stop squeaking..it's not hard

ok. its been a couple of months down the track now. All seems fine with the car. Got the car serviced at solitaire and they sorted the squeaking. Altho they did offer to replace my windscreen wipers which apparently were not working well for a modest $100. which i refused.

    Overall Impressions

Solitaire - very professional. good follow up. very busy tho so can take a while to get an appointment.

Glenelgs - Yes I do think they did an excellent job on the body. I've walked around the car numerous times and all appears nice symmetrical.

So I think in the end they both did quite a good job. And would recommend.

Sorry to dig up an old thread here...

I was involved in a small accident last night Front end of the Golf has some damage and needs to be fixed. I'd heard previously that Glenelg Crash Repairs were good. They have now changed to Specific Prestige and are based at Keswick instead of Glenelg.

Is anyone, firstly, aware of this change and secondly, have any experience with them? My insurer is Shannons and both them and Solitaire recommended I take it there.

There are a lot of crash shops out there that are dodgy, this may be quality of work, workers being ****heads in other peoples cars and so on. I have worked for 4 crash shops so far and 1 of those 4 I found to be dodgy. I know of many dodgy shops out there but I'm not gong to name names incase someone on here works there or knows someone who does.
But I also know of a few very good crash shops. My Paint lecturer says "I would get my car fixed there" and he is the fussiest person i know.
So a few places that I think are excellent are:
    -Cassanova Crash
    -Vassallo Crash
-Specific Prestige (I know a painter who works there and is absolute quality)

Ou of those 3 I have worked for one, I'm not mentioning the others. Not saying there terrible shops, my current workshop is actually very good. But we are a holden dealer and rarely work on much insurance work with other car companies.
I work on brand new holders with under 5kms on the clock, so id say we know what were doing.
