    Clean Tips

I've noticed some Mk6 owners don't look after their car, completely. That is, clean their exhaust tips!

VW gave us chrome........so, let it shine! Metal polish is needed once a month to get rid of soot/stains. Otherwise, a good wash will suffice.

I'm one of the guilty ones, my exhaust tips are charcoal black and it's been like this since I go the car!
What does bother me is the black dots on the rear bumper (white) which is a real pain to remove/wash-off, I can only assume is from the exhaust. Wonder if washing my exhaust tips would help, sounds like a no brainer?

I had these on my old white Polo GTI.
One of the reasons I didn't go white again for my Golf.
My tips were clean on the Polo, so don't think it'll help.....

I realise what i am about to say may be considered sacrilege... but i bought the Carbon Steel Grey colour because i think it still looks good a little durrrty... and i don't really mind if the tips + detroits are a little less shiny with brake/exhaust dust. So my baby gets a full wash and vac only once a fortnight. That wash includes the tips, but as it's only fortnightly... they're durrrty most of the time!

    +1
This was in the back of my mind when I bought mine also.
Didn't realise the Detroits would be so easy to keep looking clean compared to the stock rims.

....I do still obsess about clean tips though.

I'm not sure if cleaning your exhaust tips would help, but having a good quality sealant on the rear bumper, and using a good quality wash, will help

I have some Purple Metal Polish waiting to be applied to my tips. Worked really well on the chrome of dad's MGB, so I have hopes for shiney tips.

First things first, need to clean the car to change it from United Grey to Candy White.
